Transformation

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Today, my birthday, I decided to share one of my many testimonies on how God is transforming me. That’s me in the picture above, teaching in front of many students. I would never have imagined standing in front of people to speak because I have always been timid, and I guess you can say scared to stand in front of a stage. I was comfortable in my little shell.

Some people might ask, what’s the big deal? It was a big deal to me. The fact is that for some reason, some people naturally possess a strong character, but others, like me, not so much. Well, that was then. Now, I am a different person. I walk in confidence and courage. So, I knew I had to get outside my comfort zone, where nothing happens, but I never knew how.

Not until a few years back did I start to pray concerning that intentionally because fear or timidity has the ability to hold us hostage and keep us from fulfilling destiny. That is why God did not give us the spirit of fear or timidity but power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). I had to claim that, pray on that, and take a leap of faith.

I know without a doubt that God has great plans for me. I know He is preparing me for something. I don’t know what it is yet, but I am excited about the future. I will gladly follow where He leads. As a result, I got this teaching appointment when I was not thinking about it. That was not how I envisioned breaking out of that shell, but I nervously and shakingly accepted it without knowing how or where to start.

I have been teaching college students for three years now, and I get more comfortable every day. However, I am still a work in progress. The best part about it is that I am enjoying it. In addition, I have the opportunity to impact others and encourage them along the way.

So, if you are like me, I encourage you to trust God and allow Him to work in you and help you overcome your fears. Always have at the back of your head the two bible verses above. Know that God has great plans for you and that fear is not a spirit He gave you. He wants to help us, but we must be aligned with His will.

Also, remember that as God is working in and on us, we must also work on ourselves. Therefore, improving ourselves whenever possible through acquiring more skills, education, or training is vital. Also, it is easy for us to think that something like overcoming fear is not something we ask God for. That’s wrong. We can ask God for anything as long as it aligns with His will. After all, He said to ask.

Therefore, ask God to help you overcome that fear today. Whatever fear that is. Pray on that; you will see things gradually turning around for your good. So, on this day, my birthday, I agree with you and ask that God help you overcome that fear and transform you like He is doing me.

I love you, and may God bless you all. But, please, pray for me as I pray for you. We need to lift each other.
